When You Want to GROW Without Breaking the Bank
One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou "when you know better, you do better." That in a nutshell is my life motto. Let those words sink in "when you KNOW better, you DO better." I have made so many mistakes in my life. I have failed countless, countless times. And every single time I have run myself into the ground, I have gotten up, brushed off my butt and said to myself "what could I learn from this?" and "How can I DO better next time?"
Because learning requires a decision to be OPEN to something new. And being OPEN is realizing you do NOT have all the answers.
It isn't easy to look at oneself and realize that what you're currently doing isn't good enough and could be better. It takes courage to face that truth in the mirror, that sometimes WE ARE THE PROBLEM in our life.
But to me, growing is what life is all about! I am just NOT one of those people that is content with stagnancy.
Period, period period. Nothing drives me more crazy than not getting results in an upward fashion.
So periodically I look at every area of my life and rate them on a level one to ten. Which area needs some attention? Which area do I feel like I'm failing in? Which part of my life seems stale? Think about it. Is it your finances? Your main relationship that seems stagnant? Your career? Is your health not a priority? Are you living the life you always wanted? And if not, how come? And then I dive deep in learning how to improve in that area from other people. Learning from others is so much more fun than trying to figure it out on your own. Obviously what I'm doing isn't working if I'm giving myself a low number in a particular area.
I've found so many life changing books, podcasts, social media feeds and sermons that I thought I'd share a few. Today I'm starting with podcasts. Because honestly it is the EASIEST and CHEAPEST way to invest in yourself. Podcasts are FREE. FREE and some more FREE! And the best part if you get to pick the topic and pod-caster. It's like sitting in your favorite teacher's classroom, studying your favorite topic. I walk around my house doing chores and have ear buds in. I drive for hours to and from work listening to wisdom and insights in the form of podcasts. There are SO MANY topics. And yes some suck, but when you find a good one....Ooohhh it is liquid gold! And I'm left ALWAYS feeling better and wanting to DO BETTER. ALWAYS!
